Android large tablet
Earlier this month we announced Evernote 7 for Android phones. The update aligned our design with Google’s Material Design guidelines for Lollipop, including a flatter look, bolder colors, and improved typography. This week, we’ve extended the update to Android tablets.
Considering the relatively large variety of the Android device ecosystem, it seemed only natural to build a version of Evernote specifically optimized for the larger screen sizes of tablets. Regardless of whether you are using Evernote on an Android-powered phone, tablet, or watch, we wanted the experience of using the app to feel consistent from device to device while still being optimized for each.
We took advantage of the larger screen real estate afforded on tablets by creating a new split toolbar that allows you to take key actions and manage more content simultaneously. The primary navigation still expands and collapses for quick access to all your content while keeping you oriented on the larger screen size.
We used the metaphor of tangible surfaces to provide depth relationships between navigation and your content. And subtle improvements to typography and alignment let us create a much cleaner interface. We’re able to offer more functionality, including an updated new note button that mirrors our Android phone app.
We think the results provide a real productivity advantage to using Evernote on Android tablets that we hope you’ll appreciate. Check it out and let us know what you think.
