Apple unveiled the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus smartphones in San Francisco on Wednesday. iPhone 7 price in India starts at Rs. 60, 000 for the new 32GB base variant, but there's no word on iPhone 7 Plus price in India, or the price of other iPhone 7 variants. Both new iPhone models have an India release date of October 7, Apple has confirmed. As far as the price in the US is concerned, the iPhone 7 starts at $649 (approximately Rs. 43, 000) for the new 32GB entry-level variant, doing away with the 16GB model, while the iPhone 7 Plus start at $769 (approximately Rs. 51, 000) for same 32GB storage. Apple has also doubled the storage variant on other models, with 128GB and 256GB models now rounding up the lineup. Pre-orders open this Friday in Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, China, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Luxembourg, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Portugal, Puerto Rico, Singapore, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, UAE, the UK, US Virgin Islands, and the US, with the iPhone releasing in these countries on September 13. The latest iPhone models comes with a new design, doing away with the antenna lines at the back, and they will be available in two new colours: (matte) black, jet (glossy) black, in addition to gold, silver, and rose gold, seen earlier. The iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus also feature a redesigned home button which is now solid-state and force-sensitive. It uses Taptic vibrations instead of a physical click, just like the trackpad on the latest MacBook and MacBook Pro models. Apple has also added IP67 water and dust resistance, a first for the iPhone series. (Also see: Apple Watch Series 2 With Water Resistance, GPS Launched) There are camera improvements, with the iPhone 7 also getting optical image stabilisation (OIS). There's a new 6-element f/1.8 aperture lens with 12-megapixel sensor and quad-LED with True Tone Flash. A new 7-megapixel front camera is included as well. The newest iPhone models come with a new image processing engine, which, Apple claims, delivers better, faster pictures. The iPhone 7 Plus packs in the widely rumoured dual rear camera setup - one 56mm telephoto lens and the other wide-angle lens. The bigger iPhone is also capable of 2x optical zoom, with total zoom up to 10x.

I hate permanent iPhone cases of any description. What's the point of spending millions of dollars and hours designing a thin beautiful object, admiring it for 5 minutes and then shoving it into a plastic box that makes it many times thicker and less pretty? For my first 6 years of iPhone ownership I never used a case, preferring to bask in the beauty of the 3G and 4S design. Then I got the iPhone 6 which was beautifully smooth but acted more like a wet bar of soap than a handheld piece of electronic genius should. And no, before you say anything, the camera wasn't enough of a protrusion to make a difference. So, I swallowed my purist pride and got a QuadLock case - at least if I had to have a case I'd get something practical that worked on an armband, bike and car mount (and a bonus - it was designed in my home town of Melbourne). It added the right amount of grip, protection, and heaps of practicality. I travel overseas a lot and use my iPhone heaps more while away, so a battery case was in order for my trips. Although aesthetically unusual, I could see the practical benefits of the Apple Battery Case design. Sliding the phone in and out of the case doesn't feel like you're going to snap the case or a break a piece off the phone as some single piece cases do (QuadLock included). The only criticism I have is the amount of grip from the rubbery body. It's great in my hand but a bugger to get in and out of my pocket - which I do so many times per day that I just realised I may have some dependancy issues. Maybe it's because I tend to wear tight stretch jeans (another life choice to ponder), but I'm often turning the pocket lining out with the phone, and sometimes my wallet along with it. So, the iPhone 6 has gone from too slippy to too grippy. Maybe the iPhone 8 will be a bit thicker with a bigger battery and some grippy elements so I can enjoy the original design of the phone without the need for a case to make it stay in my hand and last a little longer.

The new MacBook Pro — Official Review 2017 Welcome to our complete UK guide to the new MacBook Pro 2016, where we cover everything you need to know about Apples new MacBook Pro models: UK prices and release date, new features ...

As a part of the iPhone 5s announcement today, Apple is eager to talk about the improved camera. It's got a 5-element lens with an aperture of f/2.2 on top of a sensor with a surface area 15 percent larger than the device it replaces (though it's still 8 megapixels). Larger sensors typically mean low-light sensitivity is improved — you can take better pictures with less noise with less illumination. But when you do need illumination, the new iPhone's "True Tone" dual-LED flash — with different color temperatures on each LED — kicks into action. It's been rumored for quite some time, a possible boon for low-light photographers who dread the washed-out look and unnatural coloration that a typical flash offers. Like the Galaxy S4, Apple's putting emphasis on the 5s' burst mode and slow-motion capabilities — the phone can take up to 10 shots per second. For slow motion, the video camera can take 720p at 120 frames per second.

The iPhone Upgrade Program is the easiest way to get a new iPhone every year, and the security and protection of AppleCare+. You can purchase iPhone 7 or iPhone 7 Plus with the iPhone Upgrade Program online or at an Apple Store. You can’t enroll in the program by calling Apple. Can I buy more than one iPhone and additional accessories with the iPhone Upgrade Program? With the iPhone Upgrade Program, you are limited to one iPhone purchase per online transaction, and you can’t add accessories to your online order. You can purchase additional devices and accessories in separate transactions or at an Apple Store. What do my monthly payments cover? Your monthly payments spread the full cost of iPhone and AppleCare+ over 24 months. Your first monthly payment also includes any applicable sales tax on the full price of the iPhone and any shipping costs. When I buy with the iPhone Upgrade Program is my iPhone “unlocked”? Yes. We’ll activate your iPhone on your choice of AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, or Verizon Wireless, and once your new iPhone is activated, you can change carriers whenever you like. However, there are wireless network compatibility differences between an iPhone for AT&T or T-Mobile and an iPhone for Sprint or Verizon Wireless. Are there differences between iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus for AT&T or T-Mobile, and iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus for Sprint or Verizon Wireless? iPhone offers the same innovative features regardless of the wireless carrier you choose. If you choose AT&T or T-Mobile as your wireless carrier, your iPhone will use 3G cellular technology for voice services and either 3G or 4G LTE cellular technology for data services. iPhone can roam internationally on many GSM carriers around the world. If you buy iPhone with AT&T or T-Mobile, it will not work if you switch to Sprint or Verizon Wireless. If you choose Sprint or Verizon Wireless as your wireless carrier, your iPhone will use CDMA cellular technology for voice and data services. If you buy an iPhone with Verizon or Sprint, it will work on AT&T or T-Mobile. An iPhone activated on Sprint or Verizon Wireless also has the ability to roam internationally on GSM networks. For details on LTE network support, please see I have an existing carrier contract or installment plan. Can I purchase with the iPhone Upgrade Program? You can purchase with the iPhone Upgrade Program even if you have an existing contract or an installment plan balance. However, you are still responsible for honoring any existing commitments with your carrier. Only corporate, business, and prepaid service plans are not eligible for the iPhone Upgrade Program. Can I keep my current service plan if I choose the iPhone Upgrade Program? Yes, in most cases. Your wireless carrier may charge a fee for activating your phone on its network. If your current phone does not have a data plan, you will need to change to a plan that does. Corporate, business, and prepaid service plans are not eligible. If you have any questions, you can speak to a Specialist at the Apple Store or . I’m buying an iPhone as a gift. Can I activate the iPhone at a later date? Yes. When you buy iPhone on apple.com with the iPhone Upgrade Program, you can activate it later. Can I trade in my current device? Yes. If you sign up for the iPhone Upgrade Program in an Apple Store, the trade-in credit will be applied to your credit card. If you sign up online, you will receive a gift card after a short time.

Tablets are a slowly dying form factor, but for many, a cheap tablet is a fantastic option for getting things done on the go or just consuming media. Not everyone wants to spend hundreds on a tablet, though. About a year ago, Amazon stepped in to fix that problem by debuting a 7-inch Android tablet that cost just $50, and wasn’t just total crap. However, there were still some big caveats aside from the specs. The tablet ran fine and the software was OK, but its performance degraded over time and the lack of the Google Play Store was a pain. Then, things all changed when Barnes and Noble, seemingly out of thin air, introduced the NOOK 7, another small Android tablet with Google Play, decent specs, and a price tag of just $50. I’ve spent the past couple of weeks testing it out, and I’ve been pretty impressed. Hardware When it comes to hardware, Barnes and Noble has managed to create a pretty solid Android tablet, all things considered. The tablet is made from plastic which has a soft-touch finish on the back and sides. The front has relatively minimal bezels and the entire tablet feels pretty good, especially when compared to the competition. The NOOK 7 is noticeably thinner than the Amazon Fire Tablet and feels more premium compared to the frankly disgusting hard plastic on the Fire. The buttons are also worth noting on the NOOK, namely because they are pretty good. The placement is perfect for a 7-inch tablet which you’re going to use in portrait mode most of the time, and they provide tactile feedback as well. Display When you’re buying a piece of tech, you should never expect much. That said, the NOOK delivers a decent enough experience with a 7-inch, 1024×600 display. Sure, the resolution is poor and colors are a tad washed out, but viewing angles are decent and overall, I didn’t find myself wanting more for the price . Software & Performance Easily the best aspect of this tablet is the software. It runs Android Marshmallow out of the box with no skin at all ─ seriously this is basically a Nexus ─ and very minimal bloatware. Google’s suite is pre-loaded along with B&N’s collection of apps, but all things considered, it’s pretty light. Using this tablet feels great because everything is how it should be. Unlike with Amazon’s cheap tablets or even those from Samsung where a heavy skin bogs down performance or makes the UI confusing, the NOOK just makes sense. Better yet, that lack of a skin helps with performance, and that’s a good thing considering the minimal specs on this tablet. I’ve mentioned this to my colleagues here at 9to5Google a few times, the NOOK doesn’t feel like a regular tablet, from a software perspective, it feels like the cheapest Nexus of all time. However, that doesn’t apply to things like software updates or security patches. While I won’t say that we won’t ever see this tablet get a significant update, I don’t think it’s likely. As for the actual performance of the tablet, it’s nothing incredible. You’ll notice plenty of hiccups throughout the experience, regardless of how long you’re using the tablet. Though, that’s to be expected with low-end, no-name processors and minimal specs. Over the period of about two weeks, I never ran into any serious performance issues, and things didn’t degrade over those couple weeks, which is a great sign. Battery Life One massive perk to these cheap, low-resolution and low-specced tablets is great battery life. Due to the low power requirements of the components, we can usually squeeze days of use out of these devices. However, that’s not quite the case with the NOOK. 2-3 hours of use will drain the battery by around 40-60% depending on what you’re doing, and standby time isn’t too hot either. It’s not bad battery life, but it’s not great either, and the Amazon Fire Tablet definitely has a leg up here. Additionally, the NOOK 7 ships with a power brick and a USB cable (microUSB) which is fantastic to see. It doesn’t have fast charging, but plugging it in overnight will give it a full charge for sure. Cameras No. They exist, and that’s about it. Speakers One use case I actually have for cheap tablets like this is to use in bed. I love to read a few pages in a book and then fall asleep listening to music with a sleep timer. When buying the NOOK, I actually intended to use it almost entirely for that purpose. However, the speaker is just way, way too bad. The rear-mounted mono driver doesn’t produce anything in the realm of respectable audio quality, rather producing audio that sounds terrible at low volumes, and like a dying animal when turned to maximum (which is surprisingly loud). Do yourself a favor, if you’re going to play music on this tablet, use headphones… Final Thoughts & Where To Buy There’s a lot of good, and a lot of bad about the NOOK 7, but when you factor in the extremely affordable price tag of just $50, this is undoubtedly one of the best tablets in its price point on the market today. While there are a lot of aspects I prefer on it’s competitor, the Amazon Fire Tablet, I can say that the addition of Google Play and the fantastic overall software makes this a worthwhile purchase.

Tragically out of date, this tablet had issues from the get-go which modern tablets have mostly addressed. It's got no camera's, has only 480p video output, it's browser is hardly capable of properly putting up websites (especially web 2.0), it crashes incessantly, is quite sluggish even to move from screen to screen (this may be in part due to updates it could only partly keep up with) and is not compatible with most modern apps. That said, it can still do basic web searches and display webpages that aren't overly complicated. It's old YouTube app (which you can't delete) no longer works, but the new YouTube app does. Unfortunately, youtube videos linked rom Safari are hardcoded to the old YouTube (there is no setting). If you're looking to run an old app though, the performance is still very acceptable and won't let you down. By: keeper-of-keys | 3 / 5 | 20 months ago Review has error: RAM is 256 MB, not GB. It is a fine machine that was innovative upon its release, but cannot withstand the test of time - websites continually crash. Otherwise quite functional + durable (have had for 3+ years and dropped it while biking - still ticking). As with all Apple products, OS and hardware are unpleasantly inflexible. By: Stefan Jordanovski | 4 / 5 | 4 years ago This iPad is good but he is first generation I have this one I can told you that he is easy to use he have some defects but is ok.He is great for ppls who work on internet and he have very good staff for that.

Update: The best phone in the US for 2017 is a lot like the list from 2016, as we're expecting a lot of new smartphones over the next 12 months. LG G6, Samsung Galaxy S8, iPhone 8 and maybe a Google Pixel 2. Here are our current picks from our comprehensive phone review testing. Knowing the best smartphone you can buy in 2017 is more than just a hunch for us. We test out the latest and - sometimes - greatest phones in comprehensive mobile phone reviews. To drill down to a list of our 10 favorites in the US this year, we based today's updated rankings on a lot of geeked-out factors: design, performance, battery life, camera quality and software updates. Sure, your personal preference among iOS 10, Android Nougat and Windows Mobile 10 could sway you to another device besides our top-ranked phone. Likewise, your contract with AT&T, Verizon, Sprint or T-Mobile is a personal preference. The best phone for AT&T may not be available on-contract on Verizon, and vice-versa. But that's why we have more than just a No. 1 pick, which, spoiler alert, isn't just Apple's iPhone 7 or iPhone 7 Plus. We're not that predictable. Before you lock into a binding contract or spring for an expensive unlocked, SIM-free smartphone, consult our best phone guide, updated regularly. 10. HTC 10 Not 10/10, but the best phone for music by far Weight: 161g | Dimensions: 145.9 x 71.9 x 9 mm | OS: Android Marshmallow | Screen size: 5.2-inch | Resolution: 1440 x 2560 | CPU: Snapdragon 820 | RAM: 4GB | Storage: 32GB | Battery: 3000mAh | Rear camera: 12MP | Front camera: 5MP Amazing audio Great design Camera not impressive Boomsound not great After the success of the HTC One M8, the world wondered if time was up for HTC after it didn't really ignite the smartphone game with the One M9. Well, that's not the case as the brand went away, made a beautiful phone that's 'sculpted by light', added in a genuinely impressive camera and improved the battery life. But that's not the best bit - that comes when you plug headphones into this thing. It's sensational - can this thing pump beautiful, Hi-Res Audio into your ears or what? It's sensational. For that reason alone it's worth a place in the top ten, and the myriad other improvements impress equally. Read the full review: HTC 10 What's next? We're expecting to hear about the HTC 11 in a matter of days, and it may go by the name HTC U or HTC U Ultra. Also consider: We'd suggest having a gander at the LG G5 if you fancy an 'underdog' brand that can still make it big... great camera and some fancy innovation on offer there. The HTC Bolt is a more budget-friendly alternative in the US, too, at least if you're a Sprint customer.

Household survey data are very useful for monitoring living conditions of citizens of any country. In developing countries, a lot of this data are collected through “traditional” face-to-face household surveys. Due to the remote and dispersed nature of many populations in developing countries, but also because of the complex nature of many survey questionnaires, collection of timely welfare data has often proved expensive and logistically challenging. Yet, there is a need for faster, cheaper to collect, lighter, more nimble data collection methods to address data gaps between big household surveys. The recent proliferation of mobile phone networks has opened new possibilities. By combining baseline data from a traditional household survey with subsequent interviews of selected respondents using mobile phones, this facilitates welfare monitoring and opinion polling almost real time. The purpose of this handbook is to contribute to the development of the new field of mobile phone data collection in developing countries. The handbook documents how this innovative approach to data collection works, its advantages and challenges. The handbook draws primarily from the authors’ first-hand experiences with mobile phone surveys in Africa and also benefits from experiences elsewhere. It is intended to serve a diverse audience including those involved in collecting (representative) data using mobile phones, and those using data collected through this approach. For those who will be implementing a mobile phone panel survey, the different chapters guide them through every stage of the implementation process. For potential users of the data collected via mobile phone technology, the handbook presents a new approach to data collection which they can use for monitoring programs and facilitate almost real time decision-making. A further purpose of this book is to contribute to the debate regarding the advantages of the method as well as the challenges associated with it.
